October marks Black History Month

Standing Firm in Power and Pride
The theme for Black History Month UK 2025 is “Standing Firm in Power and Pride”, a powerful tribute to the resilience, strength, and unwavering commitment to progress that defines the Black community across the globe. This year’s theme honours the leaders, activists, and pioneers who have shaped history, while also looking forward to a future built on empowerment, unity, and growth.
We’re proud to spotlight several initiatives, events and resources leading this important work within our industry:
1. RTPI & RIBA - Celebrating Black Leadership in the Built Environment
This upcoming event will spotlight inspiring leaders shaping the future of planning, development, and regeneration. This event honours the contributions of Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) president Helen Fadipe, Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) immediate past president Muyiwa Oki. The evening will open with a fireside chat so that you can learn more about the presidents, reflecting on their journeys and ambitions for the future of the industry. The panel will be followed by an opportunity to network and carry on the discussion with drinks and nibbles.
