The RTPI Planning Convention is the largest event in the planning profession. The conference  brought together expert speakers from around the world to address the future of planning. The aim was to examine and debate good design, town centres, infrastructure, margining technologies and the housing crisis. This way we can figure out what we need to do next and where we are going.

The event included excellent speakers, exhibitors and a networking drinks reception (in which we and the Planning Portal sponsored). The Minister of State for Housing Kit Malthouse told the UK’s town planners "Good design and aesthetics have a vital role to play in the delivery of the UK’s housing” and that "we should be building the ‘conservation areas of the future’ rather than repeating the mistakes of the 1960s by building houses that will be demolished within 50 years”. They asked some of their speaker "what’s next for planning?” Philip Barnes stated that "Planning needs a new focus on providing family homes, around our cities. Throttling back on homes for families, in order to feed the investor appetite for a city centre apartment product, is not enough.” Please visit the RTPI website to find out what all of the speakers had to say.
